Migrating from PracticePanther
PracticePanther offers solid generic legal case management. Migration is straightforward for firms whose workflows fit PracticePanther's generic model.
What migrates
Contacts, matters, documents, notes, and billing history. Custom fields migrate to ImmPilot custom fields with a mapping step. Workflows re-implement as automations.
Exporting from PracticePanther
Use the built-in export from Admin → Data Export. Documents export separately as a per-matter ZIP. Both take several hours to prepare for large accounts.
Common mapping decisions
PracticePanther's 'matter' becomes a case, its 'contact' becomes a client, its 'workflow' becomes a case template + automation combination. Confirm the mapping decisions with the migration tool before commit.
Documents cleanup
PracticePanther document naming varies widely by firm. A quick cleanup pass before import saves time later. Rename obvious duplicates and remove clearly obsolete files.
Parallel run
30–45 day parallel run recommended: new cases in ImmPilot, existing cases finish in PracticePanther. Contact PracticePanther to place the subscription on a lower tier during wind-down.
